Norrie's Corner

Tridhaatu Navi Mumbai Half Marathon 2020 is proud to announce Mr. NORRIE WILLAMSON as the RACE DIRECTOR.

This undoubtedly marks a new phase for NMHM and a proud moment for the team to have Mr. Norrie on board. Coach Norrie Williamson is a very popular and respected name among the road running community in South Africa and across the world. An ultra marathon athlete, coach, author, sports performance expert and an expert in sports administration with over 26 years of experience into this sport Norrie is a coach to several popular athletes and teams across the world and as a certified course measurer, he measures courses internationally that includes three Olympic Marathons.

Norrie has won 20 Comrades medals and represented Great Britain, Scotland and South Africa at various running and triathlon events. He has authored various books on running, one of the most respected athletic people known globally, and is well known for his role in the Comrades race commentary team.

Very few of his extremely vast profile includes:-

  • Coaching: IAAF Level 1 Coaching Course SA 1995
  • British Athletics Senior Coach 1996, Level 4 2001
  • International Amateur Athletic Federation / AIMS Course Measurer Grade A (including ‘professional development’ as part of support measurement at Olympics Atlanta, Sydney, Athens, Beijing, Commonwealth Games 2002)
  • Race Director for over 40 athletics and triathlon events including: 100-mile track events, 100km road, 5 & 10km road races, provincial and national student athletics track & field championships.
  • Over 150 Ultra events including: (too many marathon to mention – best time 2:36)

Race Celebrity - Kapil Dev

The Inspirational legend, Padma Bhushan award winner Mr Kapil Dev, the Indian cricketer best known for leading the team through their triumph to the Prudential World Cup victory in 1983 will now lead the runners for the second time to the Tridhaatu Navi Mumbai Half Marathon 2020 start Line

Tridhaatu Navi Mumbai Half Marathon 2020 is extremely proud to have Mr. Kapil Dev as our Race Celebrity - a man who has been a sporting legend, the Indian Cricketer of the Century named by Wisden, holding the world record for the most number of wickets taken in Test cricket during his time until retirement, only player in the history of cricket to have taken more than 400 wickets (434 wickets) and scored more than 5000 runs in Tests.
